This production was originally scheduled for performance in April 2020 on UNC's Langworthy Theatre stage. Please see the magnificent scenic design created for the original production by Designer Mia Irwin, utilizing the Langworthy Theatre's integrated turntable.

23 rehearsals into the creation of the show, the Coronavirus pandemic closed our university campus, and cancelled all public events. The production was rescheduled for April 2021, and in November 2020 the school decided to produce the show outdoors on campus's Garden Theater.  The production was required to observe pandemic masking and distancing protocols, thus the production design had to be augmented to fit the distanced staging, and the limited technical capacities of the amphitheater.

To observe state-mandated distancing protocols for outdoor events, audience was sat in 2-6 person pods, spaced 12' apart. The lawn seating allowed for 150 audience participants per performance.  To the audience's pleasure, the wide presentation of the Garden Theatre stage, and surrounding plantings provided for an epic, site-responsive performance.

This resilient ensemble endured a year of waiting, recasting of roles held by graduated students (although six graduates returned as guest artists) quarantine periods, snow, and rehearsals cancelled when the temperature dropped below 35 degrees.
